Communication styles

Do you want people to like you? Then start talking with style. This includes being comfortable with yourself, making people comfortable, being friendly, sincere, kind, accommodating and respectful. Most of all, avoiding communication styles such as the following:

  1. Prescriber / aggressor – “Do as I say!” or “I think it should be done like this!”
  2. Blamer – “It is not me, it is them!”
  3. Placatory – “Let us forget it!” or “Do not worry so much, be happy!”
  4. The computer / Know-it-all – “Let me tell you why you are wrong!” or “Do not argue, just do as I say!”
  5. The distracter – “I am not interested!” or “What were you saying?”
  6. Emotionalist – My feelings, my feelings, my feelings!
  7. Chatterbox – Cannot stop talking!
  8. Sorry to be alive – Do not mind me, and yes, it is okay if you step on me!
  9. Don’t know – I do not want to be part of all this! I do not know too much about anything so I will just keep quiet.
  10. Group follower – Command me my masters!
  11. The one-sider – The universe rotate around my side of the story! My view is the only view!

People do not like people that are aggressive or are too full of them-self but they love people that make them feel good. If you can do that then you are talking with style.
